The Future is Here Abstract The school is one of the few institutions that has suffered the least changes over the centuries, but technology is gradually changing that. Teachers and students alike can take advantage of new methods and aids introduced in the classroom. The use of technology can make learning more challenging and motivating, by increasing the number of ways a teacher has to reach his/her students. Students have new tools to help them learn, and in the process bond with their teachers. Technology however is not without its detriments. When applied improperly, it can have negative consequences. Students may start to depend on it too much, and in the process lose creativity and focus. It can also lead to a lack of interaction with their peers, which hurts their social skills. The advantages far supersede the negatives, and the key is to find a balance between the old and the new. Technology is one of the biggest contradictory issues of our times. Some believe it helps people’s busy lives, and some believe it is causing problems among people, such as laziness and lack of culture. But when it comes to technology in education, the situation becomes even more complicated. Internet, software, computers, media in general and television are some of today’s privileges that are used in education. Some people believe that students are becoming so dependent on technology that their learning process is becoming jeopardized. But technology, if well used, can improve students’ learning skills. After performing many researches, it becomes clear that there are more advantages than disadvantages of adding technology in education.
